YAROSLAV SOBOL • Warm evening. 2020. (SOLD)

“As I mentioned, I have recently been studying how the human form is portrayed in oils and acrylic and noticed another of your paintings, “Warm Evening”. With this painting it seems you used more of a classic Fauvism style like Matisse or Manguin, layering the paint in patches of different pastel colors to give your model’s body the impression of muscles and structure in a bright light to shadowed setting. Thank you again for giving me insight into your work. Please be safe.”

My response to the collector: “Painting “Warm Evening” is one of my last paintings. I really like her too. In it, I tried to portray the sweetness of the Mediterranean summer, when all the problems of everyday life are somewhere far behind, and there are many days of vacation, entertainment, and happiness ahead. Yes, indeed, we can say that this work is close in style to the paintings of Matisse and Manguin. The classic period of Fauvism is considered to be the time from 1904 to 1908. This is the period even before the First World War. In those years, in my opinion, people still had the opportunity to simply live and enjoy every day of their lives. And it is this state of carefree happiness that I tried to convey in my picture. For this, I used pure and bright pastel shades to convey this state, which, in my opinion, is now sorely lacking in our lives.”
