In youth we worked two years by teachers of drawing and painting at the good rural school. We usually traveled to the village from Kharkiv by bus.

One day, we were returning home and heard the conversation of a herdsman and a rural surgeon. Herdsman said the doctor sincerely: ‘You are surgeon. You work with your hands, but I work with my head, because I have to think where to drive a herd!’

Children in that school were good and funny. For example, they believed that the colors of the Ukrainian flag do not symbolize the sky and wheat, but the  s u n  and  the  s e a… So they drew the flag upside down. Some of them were very capable to drawing and painting. Have a look at them.

В молодості ми працювали два роки вчителями малювання в одній гарній сільській школі. В село ми їздили з Харкова на автобусі.

І ось, одного разу, повертаючись додому, ми почули розмову пастуха і сільського хірурга. Пастух щиро казав лікарю: «Ось ти хірург. Ти працюєш руками. А я працюю головою, бо мені треба думати, куди гнати стадо!»

Дітки в тій школі були хороші і кумедні. Вони, наприклад, вважали, що кольори українського прапору символізують не небо і пшеницю, а   с о н ц е   і   м о р е… Тому і малювали прапор догори ногами. Деякі з них були дуже здібні до малювання. Ось, подивіться на них.
