The young man who is depicted in the painting is illuminated by the moonlight and himself symbolizes the Moonlight. He aspires to his beloved – the Night Flower. He wants to touch her, to embrace her exactly as the moonlight softly envelopes beautiful flowers at night. The young man holds a sparkling star in his hand. He wants to give this star to the Night Flower and thereby earn her favor. Also, as a token of love for the Night Flower, the young man have made a tattoo of a flower on his shoulder.
