In the painting ‘The end of the Epoch’ is reflected my opinion about change of the Epochs at the present moment. The Epoch of wars, great starvations, concentration camps and GULAGs, which is symbolized by figure of Centaur, is moving away. The Epoch in which the person was an ordinary soldier of one of the armies. A man had been sent to war, he went and he died.

The Epoch of the external well-being and harmony, which is reflected in the figure of Hermaphrodite, is instead coming. The new Epoch declares that the human valuables are the highest aim of humanity. But is striking the eye the eclecticism and the artificiality of the both figures. Is a man of our time not a simple detail of the global mechanism called ‘society of consumerism’? I think so. A man doesn’t physically have to die in the trenches, but he spiritually dies at the forward position of spiritual war. A person gets political correctness instead of spirituality, and a cold of the politeness instead of love. The image is externally formed more attractive.

But the question arises: is the present really better than the past? And do we want whether to build the future on similar basis? Perhaps there is another model of society where there will be less artificiality and cynicism, but will be more sincerity and love?

В картині «Кінець епохи» відображен мій погляд на теперішню зміну епох. Відходить епоха війн, голодоморів, концтаборів та гулагів. Епоха, в якій людина була рядовим солдатом однієї з армій. Людину посилали на війну, вона йшла і вмирала.

Натомість, приходить епоха зовнішнього благополуччя та гармонії, що відображено в фігурі гермафродита. Нова епоха декларує людські цінності найвищою метою людства. Але кидається у вічі синтетичність та штучність обох образів. Чи не є людина сучасності простою деталлю глобального механізму під назвою суспільство споживацтва? Мені здається, що так. Людина не повинна зараз помирати в окопах фізично, але вона помирає духовно на передовій духовної війни. Замість духовності вона отримує політкоректність, замість любові – холод ввічливості. Зовні формується більш привабливий вигляд.

Але виникає питання, а чи дійсно теперішнє краще минулого, і чи хочемо ми на подібній основі будувати майбутнє? Можливо, є й інша модель суспільства, де буде менше штучності та цинізму, а буде більше щирості та любові?
